Attraction info

The Chateau Villandry is the last of the great chateaux of the Loire built during the Renaissance in the Loire Valley. The sober elegance of its architecture combined with the charm of its outstanding gardens make this one of the jewels of world heritage.

Beautiful gardens and space for kids

We decided to just do the gardens instead of the inside tour of the chateau. After a week in the Loire Valley, my kids had seen enough chateaus! It was an overcast day but still the gardens were gorgeous to walk around and just alive with colour. SO well maintained, beautifully manicured and space for the kids to move and play. There is also a small playground and a small maze for them to play in. Free for kids to age 8 which is really wonderful and only €6.50 for adults for the garden only - really well priced we thought! I'd allow a half a day here to explore the gardens and take your time. I'm not sure if you were allowed to take your own food in (we didn't) but the area where the playground is has some nice seats where parents can sit and watch the kids and where would be a nice place to have a small snack. After we finished we had some crepes at the small cafe just outside the entrance which was also reasonably priced. A must do when in the Loire Valley.
