Piazza San Marco (known in English as the St Mark's Square), is the principal public square of Venice, Italy, where it is generally known just as "the Piazza". On the square you will find the Doge's palace, Saint Mark's Campanile and the Basilica.
Pretty but overcrowded
It's another must see in Venice and you can do lots of things while you are there (visit Doge's Palace, the Basilica and the Campanile) but there are so many people. I spent a lot of time just watching my kids as it was so easy for them to disappear into the crowd. Go late in the day where it is slightly less frantic and we went up the Campanile which gave us nice views of the Square but without the oppressive crowds. Pram friendly and can find a step to sit on and enjoy the atmosphere.
