Théâtre la Maison de Guignol os a small theatre in the heart of Vieux Lyon in St. Paul, the theatre sits 120 people and behind the scenes holds a collection of 300 antique puppets, puppets handed down from generation to generation by the descendants of Laurent Mourget, creator of the puppet Guignol. Now owned by the City of Lyon, there are regular puppet shows performances for children and adults.
Good fun, but in French!
We came here to watch a special Christmas play with the kids. It is a lovely little theatre and reasonably priced at €11 adults and €7 for kids. The show went for about an hour and it is all in French so hard to follow a bit! My youngest at 5 enjoyed it more than the elder one at 9 so I think that it is better suited to younger kids who get less annoyed with the language barrier! But a nice experience and a great rainy day activity. Afterwards all the kids get to go backstage and see how the puppets work and talk to the puppeteers.
